Why doesn't socrates employ emotional appeals to pity in order to save his life?

The reason as to why socrates does not employ or apply emotional appeals to pity in order to save his life because this will affect the judgement of the court and that they may not be able to apply a fair judgment when they let their emotions be involved in the trial.
