Let's try to solve for b.

First distribute...

4b - 4 = -4 + 4b

Combine like terms...

4b - 4b = -4 + 4

0 = 0

This tells us that the two equations (4b - 4 = -4 + 4b) are the same 2 lines. Therefore, there are an infinite number of solutions. Test it by substituting various numbers for b. They all work.

So is there only one solution? No. There are infinite solutions.

The answer is infinite, many solutions. That means there can be any value of b.
