Can someone discuss the reason that searches of a person are regulated by the Constitution. Why shouldn't police be able to search anyone's person or property at any time?

Searches of a person are regulated by the Constitution in order to protect individuals’ personal privacy, and every citizen's right to be free from unreasonable government intrusion. The police should not be able to search people at any time as this opens the door for abuse of people’s personal liberties
