Use Pythagoras theorem:-

d^2 = a^2 + b^2

- where d = length of the diagonal and a and b are the length and width of the rectangle.

The diagonal = the positive square root of d^2.

Use the pythagorean theorem: a² + b² = c²

"a" and "b" are the lengths of the sides. "c" is the length of the diagonal.
