Nonliving things are called abiotic. In this word "a" means "not: and "biotic" is something related to life. Therefore, not living or nonliving.

Living things are called biotic. The word "biotic" means related to life. Therefore, living things or living organisms.

I believe Biotic factors is the term for living organisms & Abiotic factors is the term for Non- living factors such as water , air , temperature & soil .
