Hello!

Slaves were important to the colonial economy because they rarely worked for money. Slaves mostly worked on hue plantations so they produced a lot of cotton and such for almost never any wage. Unlike white men at the time who were working for money.

Slaves provided very low-cost labor to maintaining plantations and other labor-intensive works for the colonial economy.
