Anthony was conducting a "nondirective" interview.

Nondirective interview is a interview or meeting in which questions are not prearranged. Unstructured or nondirective interview by and large have no set organization. The absence of structure enables the questioner to make inquiries which strikes a chord next as a development and investigate purposes of enthusiasm as they go on further. Non-directive interviews generally set aside any longer opportunity to finish than an organized (directive) interview.
