It has a spine consisting of 100-400 vertebrae and each vertebra are attached to a pair of seperate thin ribs. This anatomical adaptation allows the snake to coil, climb and move in an S shape

The kingsnake has copied the pattern and colour of a coral snakes skin. The coral snake is a venomous and feared snake, that is why, by having the same appearance, kingsnakes might be a little safer.
