How does the plasticity Of the earths mantle influence the movement of the lithospheric plate?

The mantle is composed of rocks that are extremely hot (past their boiling point) but have not turned into molten rocks due to extreme pressure. Therefore the rocks are rather plastic and move with convection currents in the regions. These convection currents are responsible for the tectonic plate movement of the crust above it.
