Article I of the Michigan Constitution comprises of 27 sections that establish the rights and freedoms of the citizens of Michigan. It borrows from the ideas of the US Bill of rights because it recognizes that there are certain natural rights that the state should guarantee. The state constitution allows citizens to influence the political process directly through elections of officials
