The use of dramatic monologue allowed Robert Browning to ENGAGE MORE DIRECTLY WITH HIS READERS BY PLACING THEM IN THE ROLE OF LISTENERS.
A monologue is said to be used, when a character in a drama or poem speaks his thoughts and feelings out. This type of writing gives insights into the character's mind. Using this form of writing enabled Robert Browning to give readers direct insight into the the character's thinking and to reveal his weaknesses and frailties. The monologue used also allow the author to dramatize the actions that was developing within the poems.
