Millions of soldiers and civilians died and the economies of Europe were ruined.

World War One was the first Great War that affected not only soldiers but citizens, as well as bombings, occurred in many cities. Europe's economies were ruined as they had used all funds in order to get ammunition, which eventually also lead to the Great Depression in Europe (External factors included).

Hope this helps!
