The main cause of Brazil’s greenhouse gas emissions is cutting and burning of the Brazilian rain forest or deforestation.

Most of the greenhouse gases came from the changes in land use which not only includes deforestation but also other sources like agriculture and energy. Factors other than this are waste products and industrial emissions.

Brazil had the worst recession in history but the emissions of greenhouse gases increased to 8.9% in the year 2016 and was highest where the agriculture leading to changes in land use and deforestation played the major role.
