F = m * a
Where,
m: mass
a: acceleration.
To find the acceleration we have the following formula:

vf = a * t + vo
Where,
vo: initial speed
vf: final speed
a: acceleration
t: time
Clearing the acceleration we have:

a = (vf - vo) / (t)
Substituting values:

a = (3 - 0) / (1) a = 3 m / s ^ 2
Then, the force is given by:

F = (40) * (3) F = 120 N
