Transcription takes place in the nucleus. Translation takes place at ribosomes, in the cytoplasm or attached to the ER.

The DNA is located in the nucleus, so all the activity involving creating DNA happens within the nucleus. Though when the mRNA is produced, it leaves the nucleus, goes into the cytoplasm, and the translation happens in the ribosomes.
