Definitely, the someone that is trying to prevent you from achieving a goal could be a friend, family, or a stranger. If it is a friend, then it is better to cut ties with him or her as preventing you from achieving a goal is a very negative thing for a friend to do. Cutting ties with someone like this will allow you to move forward and achieve that goal. If it is a family member, then cutting ties will nearly be impossible. A thorough explanation is necessary and hear the family member's side too. In this case, understanding is the key. If it is a stranger, then I move around and be psychologically sound as to achieving my goal. A stranger cannot dictate my actions.
