The roots of the bluegrass music are said to be the different types of music brought by the people who migrated to America in the 1600's. These included dance music and ballads from Ireland, Scotland and England and African American music and blues. Bill Monroe and the band he formed known as Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys were the first to introduce a new kind of country music known as bluegrass music.
