A scandal in President Reagan administration that was revealed when the United States’ secret arrangement of arms sales to Iran in return for promises of Iranian assistance, to secure the release of American hostages in Lebanon was revealed. Under the Reagan Doctrine, the CIA trained and assisted this involving financial support.
