Why is switzerland seen as a safe place to keep money in the bank?

Switzerland used to have laws that protected money depositors, for example, any information related to who owned bank accounts, or the amount of money deposited in them was kept confidential. Currently those laws are no longer in effect and the Swiss government will disclose information regarding bank accounts at the request of foreign governments or international law enforcement agencies.

Switzerland also has a very stable and strong currency, plus politically it is considered a neutral country.
