Frederick William, Prussia's King made several reforms and changes to support his army. He ended the expensive spending of their court. He gave land to the peasantry and freed slaves.

He used collected taxes on lands, implemented commercial policies and developed industries. This supported his army with clothes. He believed that an efficient state needs educated subjects.
