Keegan and Iris are learning about examining the animal's hair coat. Keegan says the hair coat should be examined for brittleness and alopecia. Iris say the hair coat should be examined for oiliness and stiffness. Who is correct?

I think that Keegan is right because the oiliness and stiffness could change if that animal is dirty but the brittleness and alopecia are the colors of the hair coat, they rarely, if ever change.

Answer:

Keegan is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

Keegan and Iris are probably examining the animal's fur to find out the quality of the fur. Although oiliness and stiffness are important points, these are not the most relevant factors to know if the animal's fur is healthy. In this case the ideal is to examine the animal's hair for fragility and alopecia, because then they will know if the animal's hair is strong enough, or if it is so fragile that it falls and fails. The fragility and alopecia, besides showing the quality of the hair can indicate how the animal's nutrition is doing.
