As the boys set out to search for the Beast, Ralph allows Jack to lead the way, and he sinks to the back of the pack, "thankful to have escaped responsibility for a time." What does this moment lead you to infer about Ralph and about his feelings about being the group’s leader? What does this moment foreshadow?from lord of the flies

Ralph is stressed since all the boys are relying on him so he is relived when Jack wants to take the lead for a moment because this means Ralph can relax a little bit. This is foreshadowing to when Jack completely takes control and begins his own reign putting everyone's lives at risk including Ralph's.

He's  getting stressed from leading a whole group of boys. He knows that Jack wanted to be the leader in the first place, this moment will probably foreshadow times like this where his leader responsibility will be used by another.
