What are the points for anyways?

What do they do aside from raise our rank?
Why do we have them?
This is not a game.
If they have points, why don't they have games to help us learn?
In other words, If we reach a certain amount of points, we get the choice to play an educational game...
If we don't want to, then we can click no and continue saving up our points.

The point of the points are if you answer sn question you earn them obviously as you know but you need point to ask questions on here so I use them to ask questions.
