We pay taxes because the governments (federal, state, and municipal) enact, or enforce, tax laws. The tax revenue pays for government services such as roads and institutions.

Answer:

We pay federal taxes and state taxes.

These taxes are deducted from our pay checks and we have to pay the tax amount as per our yearly income.

This money is used to build the country in terms of transportation, roads, police departments, medical facilities, pensions, health and education etc.

Taxes also fund public libraries, government museums and parks.
