Why’s the value of x in the linear equation below ?
4+3x -ax = 9-7x + bx

Collect all the x terms on the left side and all those terms without x in them on the right side:

4+3x -ax = 9-7x + bx => x(3 - a + 7 - b) = -4 + 9

Then:

x = --------------- (answer)
10 - a - b
