Answer:

The Aral Sea is the object of a recovery longterm plan by Kazakh authorities, the World Bank and scientists. A permanent dam was built in 2005 in the norther part of the sea that has allowed partial recovery. Some fresh water have returned, water levels have risen again, traditional fish species have returned and fishing , too. There is a second phase for the recovery waiting for government approval at present.
