The slope of the equation is y = 2x + 3 is 2.

Find the slope of the points.

m = y₂ - y₁ / x₂ - x₁

m = 1 - 7 / 1 - (-2)

m = -6 / 3

m = -2

The same slope will happen if you also calculate for the third point.

As you can see. The slopes are not the same for one is rising (positive) while the other is fall (negative).
