The social norms, organisation and practices that are way of involving the public into the policies and decisions made for them is known as social activism. This also includes proper access to civic associations, media participation and the means to participate in civic activities such as nonviolent demonstration or petition.

It is essential for the purpose of ensuring that institutions are working properly and are being held accountable with respective to everyone's participation and representing them all effectively.
