In humans, Kinky hair (H++), curly hair (H+), wavy hair H) and straight hair (h) are dominant in that order. Dark hair dominates red hair. A male with wavy red hair, whose mother has straight dark hair, marries a dark haired female with straight hair who has a father with curly red hair. What type of children can they expect to produce, and what is the probability of producing these types of offspring?

Man has wavy hair so he will have H allele at one locus. His mother has straight hair so he will get one h allele from her. So his genotype is Hh. He has recessive red hair so in colour his genotype is dd. Hence he has a Hhdd genotype.

Woman has straight hair so she will have hh genotype as it is the most recessive trait. Her hair is of dark colour so she will have D dominant allele at one locus. Her father has red hair so she will get one d allele from him. So her genotype for color would be Dd. Hence she has a hhDd genotype
