When dividing polynomials using the long division method, we will stop when numerator degree is less than denominator degree.

Solution:

Given that , we have to determine when dividing polynomials using the long division method, how do we know when we are finished with dealing the procedure?

Now, in dividing polynomials using long division method, usually we will have degree of numerator greater than degree of denominator.

After all certain factors are cancelled , the numerator degree will be less than the degree of denominator.

Here we can stop, as no further operations can be done.

Hence, we will stop when numerator degree is less than denominator degree.
