Explain the following: if the government did not protect property rights under the rule of law, only the property of the wealthy would be secure.

Answer:The majority of citizens depend on government protection and public enforcement to secure their rights. Only the wealthy can afford private protection services such as living in gated, security-patrolled communities or other ways of paying privately for enforcement of their property rights.

The government protects property rights through fifth and fourteenth amendments through the due process clause.

EXPLANATION:

Private property is protected by the government by which people can buy, sell, acquire, use property freely, legally and under law.The laws clearly define ownership and the owner is free to treat the property as he wishes.

The government can in no way deprive the individual of his property. Now, if these rights do not exist then some might try to gain political benefits out of the land illegally. So the property of both rich and poor peoples are secured by this law.
