How many ions that have a +1 charge will bond with an ion that has a –2 charge? one two three four

Two ions.

When bonding, the ions want to bind in a way that the positive and negative charges add up to 0.

If one ion has a -2 charge, TWO 1+ ions are needed to balance it out.
