Joshua has $6.25 more than Evie does, and Adam has $10 less than Joshua. Together, the three have $49. How much money does each person have?​

Answer:

A = $11.75

E = $15.5

J = $21.75

Explanation:

J = E + 6.25

A = J - 10

A + E + J = 49

(Apply Algebra & Simultaneous Equations)

Hence:

J -10 + E + J = 49

2J -10 + E = 49

2J + E = 59

2(E+6.25) + E = 59

2E + 12.5 + E = 59

3E = 46.5

E = $15.5

J = 15.5 + 6.25

J = $21.75

A = 21.75 - 10

A = $11.75
