Explanation:

Count how many down and how many over the second point is from the first point (the distance from one point to another). We calculate slope as "rise/run". If the line goes down 3, we call that a rise of -3. The run, or length, from one point to another is 6.

-3/6 simplifies down to one half. This will be constant throughout the entire graph, if you choose any two whole points.
