Select the correct reason why a pencil and not an ink pen should be used to mark a thin‑layer chromatography (TLC) plate. The pencil graphite will interact with organic compounds. The ink will trap the compounds in the samples and not allow them to migrate up the plate. The mobile phase can dissolve the ink and move it up the plate. Ink can evaporate during the development of the plate.
