The Spanish and the Americans finally stopped fighting on August 12,1898, after this the famous Treaty of Paris was made on December 19, 1898. As part of this treaty, the United States got Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines for 20 million dollars, along with Cuba getting its independence.
