Why is osteomyelitis more likely to occur after a compound fracture than after a greenstick fracture

Answer:

Because osteomyelitis is a bone infection and when a compound fracture occurs it is an open wound and bone is exposed to area which can pick up all kinds of bacteria or staph to cause an infection. A green stick break is an all enclosed wound.
