The Muslim view of Mohammed as a prophet:

Muslims, in the first place, regard Mohammed as a prophet. Not a saviour or a messiah. According to Muslims, Mohammed fulfilled his responsibility of preaching his disciples the knowledge of true religion and the righteous way of living that the Almighty bestowed upon him.

The terms prophet, messiah, and saviour bear different meanings in different contexts. Prophet is the one who is chosen by God to deliver his message to the people. Messiah, particularly in Judaism, is the one who promises the Jews a land of their own. Savior is the one who saves people that are in trouble.
