Answer:

An adolescent snail’s mass is 60% of an adult. The adolescent snail’s mass is 39 grams .The adult mass is equal to 65 grams.

Solution:

Given that adolescent snail’s mass is 60% of an adult.

Let assume mass of an adult = x grams

So adolescent snail’s mass = 60% of x grams

=(60)/(100) * x

adolescent snail’s mass =
(3 x)/(5) --- eqn 1

From question, it’s given that adolescent snail’s mass is 39 grams.

So we can say eqn1 is equal to 39

(3 x)/(5)=39

3 x=39 * 5

3x=195

x = 65 grams

Hence the adult mass is equal to 65 grams.
