Remember “Pemdas” so 4-2 first= 2. Then do 5x2 because multiplication is next which is 10 then do 10+1=11 because addition is the last step.

Explanation:
5(4 - 2) + 1
= 5 * 2 + 1
= 10 + 1
= 11
