When Sovereign of Mexico Agustín de Iturbide resigned in Walk 1823, the law was canceled once more. In April 1823, Austin actuated the congress to give him a contract to bring 300 families to Texas. He needed legitimate, hard- working individuals who would make the colony a victory.
