y= -5 is going to be plugged into 2y+2-4

This means that 2(-5)+2-4=?

2(-5) is the equivalent to 2 times -5, which is -10 (you solve multiplication first because order of operations)

Now, 2-4=-2

So using this, let's combine both equations!

-10+-2=?

?=-12
