Group-think is a term coined by sociologist Irving S.Janis. in 1972. It is a phenomenon in which people go for consensus for a group. In this phenomenon many times a person leaves his own belief and adopt group thinking which could be a wrong decision. The person who is not satisfied with the group answer may be quiet just to maintain peace in the group.

There are many steps through which a person can minimize the biases in the group.

  • The first leader gives equal opportunity to all members in the group to express their viewpoints.
  • Make sub-parts of the group.
  • Assign an equal opportunity to all, members to work.
  • Discuss the ideas of subgroups in whole groups.
  • Positively encourage group people.
  • Not to disregard and discourage the opinion of a person.
