What happens when an atom that has lost an electron comes in contact with

an atom that has gained an electron?

I think if I remember correctly it becomes positive.

If an atom gains or loses an electron, it is an ion. When one atom which has lost an electron comes in contact with one which has gained an electron, they form an ionic bond. Together their charge is neutral.
