Slicing a fruit open assists in allowing it to decompose faster as the oxygen in the air reacts with the sugars in the fruit, which breaks it down and speeds up the chemical reaction.

Answer:

ummmm

Step-by-step explanation:

I'm pretty sure its because when its closed then theres no air going onto it, and fruit is supposed to stay wet and juicy, but when air gets on it the fruit starts drying up............................ i dont really know if this is the right answer but this is just a guess
