Answer:

It is believed that during the formation of the earth a large object collided with the earth. as a result of the collision, the earth started spinning. the earth's rotates around its axis which is on a 23.5 tilt. this causes seasons and a day/night cycle.

it rotates in an eastward direction which is why the sun and moon rise in the east and set in the west.
