There are several reasons behind the removal of Taliban by United States from power shortly after the September 11, 2001 attack. On that day terrorists organization Al Quyeda led by Bin Laden attacked on New York by hijacking a plane. However as an aftermath of this attack USA removed the Taliban Government from power in Afghanistan. One of the main reason is to remove Taliban is , they were giving shelter to the Al quaeda. The fled leader of the organization Bin Laden was also given shelter in Afghanistan by the Taliban Government.

So basically they were helping this terrorist organization by giving them shelter and helping to attack the US.
