to find areas of unusual figures, we divide the section into more easy figures to find its area, in this case we can divide the parallelogram into two triangles, drawing a line from point D to point B

then we will have two triangles whose area is easier to find,let´s see the AB-BD-DA triangle


A=(b*h)/(2)

b= 6 units (from -6 to zero)

h=8 units ( from -4 to 4)


A=(6*8)/(2) =24 square units

the area of the triangle DC-CB-BD is the same,

it's the same triangle but turned up, so we have a total area

At=24 square units* 2= 48 square units
