What is the difference between a scientific theory, and a scientific law?

A scientific law is what happens. For example, Newton's law about gravity is a stated fact. A scientific theory is an explanation for why something happens. For example, Wegner's theory about pangea is just an explaination. It can not be proven correct.

Something is based on observations, experiments, and reasoning

A Scientific Law is:

A summary of an experiment that have been proven
