Individualism was a fresh concept in the 1800s in America. Individuality meant being able to offer something others couldn't and being free from oppressors (inspired by their revolt against Britain). Individualism meant being the best you could be at one thing and inspiring new ideas to other people. These concepts led to the industrial revolution because individuality kept the flow of new ideas and goals.
